North Croydon Networked Learning
Community
NLC are
being developed by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) as part of a national
programme of research and development that encourages schools to
.learn from
each other
. learn with each other thereby forming groups and networks of
schools working together to enhance the quality of professional learning and to strengthen
capacity for continuous improvement.
In early 2002, the
NCSL invited bids from groups of schools to access funding (max £50,00 a year for three
years) that would enable them to collaborate on specific activities of research and
development. The North Croydon Networked Learning Community will work together on the
issue of Assessment for Learning and sees the following benefits
- a
shared focus on enquiry into teaching and learning within and between schools
- cooperative
and shared professional learning
- a
stimulus for innovation and a framework for managing change
- shared
resources and expertise
- stronger
professional challenge and support
- a
collective voice responding to and influencing school reform
Croydon QDI is a
key partner in the North Croydon NLC, acting as a critical friend, facilitating the
professional development aspect and dissemination of outcomes.
