Leadership Incentive
Grant (LIG) Collaboratives
The
Leadership Incentive Grant is a three-year DfES initiative, launched
in January 2003 to promote leadership development in secondary
schools where less than 30% of pupils attain five or more A*-C
grades at GCSE. Schools that are eligible for the grant
receive a sum of £125,000 a year. Part of this funding has to
be used for collaborative activities with other schools.
There
are three collaboratives in Croydon. Each undertook an
assessment of needs using an audit tool and produced a collaborative
plan to trigger the grant. All three plans were judged
'excellent, a model for others' by the DfES.
