Welcome to Croydon QDI (Quality, Development, Improvement)
Our mission is ...

to promote the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of all staff, that supports their own entitlement, desire to seek continuous improvement and builds on their skills and experience to support school improvement and raise standards.

With the help of our Career Pathway document and Teachernet, we can help you to plan your Professional Career Development.

Teachers and Support Staff

plan your professional and career development here

The Training and Development Agency (TDA, formerly the TTA) has a website that provides information on and links to a wide variety of CPD information for teachers and support staff.

To access the TDA's website just click here.

We are proud to be participating in the General Technology Council's (GTC) Teacher Learning Academy. This is a framework that recognises and accredits teachers' professional development. For more information just click on this link

Croydon QDI also recommends Teachers TV as a tremendous on-line resource of materials that can support Professional Development. The Teachers TV searchable database enables you to download and edit video clips.  For more information click on this link

The context ...

In the current thrust to raise standards, increasing attention is being paid to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs of teachers and others.

The Green Paper (DfEE 1998) states that the Government is ‘committed to giving teachers the training and support they need to do their jobs well and to progress in their careers’.

More recently, the Government published the Green Paper : Building On Success (DfES, 2001) as the new framework for raising standards for all. As part of this broad framework the DfES launched its strategy for teachers’ CPD ‘Learning and Teaching’ (March 2001). This was devised in consultation with the General Teaching Council (GTC).

Our strategy and the CPD we provide, mirrors the DfES framework for all staff by enabling teachers and others to build upon their skills and keep up to date with the changing demands that are placed upon them. We recognise that a professional development culture within schools creates a more supportive and encouraging environment and reinforces our priority of successful staff recruitment, development and retention.

Croydon QDI actively supports the Investors in People recognition framework.

The work of the CPD team is highly regarded locally and nationally – this has been reflected in our participation in a number of recent high profile DfES activities including –

Teacher Bursary Scheme
Best Practice Research Scholarships
Early Professional Development Pilot
Teachers’ International Professional Development

We very much look forward to working with you and would welcome your feedback on this site and the programmes that we provide.

Head of Professional Development
